At the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universität Leiden, with more than 6000 students and 1700 staff members, the disappearance of fixed computer labs was a challenge. These labs were important but limited flexibility and required a lot of maintenance. The solution came in the form of an innovative software distribution platform, allowing access to the necessary software titles.
The disappearance of fixed computer labs at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Leiden University brought significant challenges. These labs were essential for delivering digital lessons but limited flexibility and required a lot of maintenance. Students were bound to specific times and locations to access the necessary software, leading to busy labs and limited availability.
We provided the solution through the Deployment Plattform, allowing students to work on their own laptops and eliminating their reliance on fixed computer labs. This enables more flexible education, as students now have access to the necessary software anytime and anywhere. The platform supports single sign-on and IP whitelisting, meaning students can easily log in and use the software both on campus and at home.
The implementation from us was seamless, thanks to the excellent support and the dedicated point of contact, the Sales Manager. Their structured approach and efficient handling of all provided information streamlined the transition for the faculty.
Since its implementation in September, the platform has been a success. Students now have access to the software anytime and anywhere, greatly improving the flexibility and efficiency of education. The collaboration with us has been smooth, with excellent support for both students and teachers. This has relieved the faculty and reduced the need for an extensive internal support organisation.
The platform now offers a future-proof solution, with better control over the provided software and improved privacy and security. All students use the same version of the software, promoting uniformity and simplicity. Positive feedback from students highlights the benefits of this new approach.
In the near future, the platform will be rolled out across the entire university, allowing even more students and staff to benefit from the advantages of us.
Thanks to us, students and staff at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Leiden University can now work more flexibly and efficiently. It is an important step in modernising and improving their educational approach.
